Education & Experience:

Laura is a clinical practicum student completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She has also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Ambrose University, and most of a Master of Divinity from Regent College. Her training is based in a trauma-informed approach supported by body awareness, mindfulness, and CBT tools.

Laura has many years of experience supporting individuals who are experiencing grief, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and desire for growth, through her work as a pastor. She also understands the challenges of the workplace through her many years in service and business management.

Counselling Approach & Philosophy

Laura understands that the difficulties of life can be overwhelming.

Due to circumstances that were out of our control, we may not have the tools we need to thrive and grow. And that is making our lives harder, and our ability to sustain meaningful connections with others, more difficult.

Sometimes we need a place to come where we are fully accepted. A place of compassion and non-judgement where we are safe and supported in our present circumstances, and in our growth goals. A place where every feeling or thought is safe to share… at your own pace.

Laura approaches each client with empathy and unconditional acceptance. Beginning with your therapy goals, together you will discover together what brought you to this place, and where you would like to go from here.

Laura begins with a person-centred, holistic approach, supported by a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness.
