Counselling Approach & Philosophy
John’s is a person-centered, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed clinician. John also practices holistically and looks at how one’s physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and cultural factors influences one’s well-being and healing.
His philosophy is rooted in building a genuine authentic, and trusting relationship with his client’s that is continuously earned. As client’s step into therapy, they will enter a comfortable, safe and non-judgmental space where clients can share their story. He also nurtures a space where clients can go through their emotional pain that are inherently part of the human experience and that one doesn’t need to go through alone. Through this, John then collaboratively works with his clients to figure out many ways of dealing with life’s challenges and stressors; to ultimately lead to them to their own goals and self-discovery.
John practices from a wide range of therapy modalities including LGBTQ2S+ Affirming Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Person-Centered, and Motivational Interviewing.
