2SLGBTQ+

2SLGBTQ+ stands for Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning and additional sexual orientations and gender identities. In today’s society, sexuality and gender identity is still stigmatized and a topic of conversation that is not often not freely or acceptedly discussed. Not having a feeling of a safe and inclusive space, in one’s social circle, can make it difficult to truly explore one’s sexual or gender identity because in fear of judgement, rejection or discrimination. On top of stigma, when we continuously hear and see messages that being heterosexual (or “straight”) is the normal and only appropriate sexuality can greatly affect one’s self-esteem, ability to build genuine and authentic relationships with others, and physical and mental health.

When you step into therapy, you will be met with unconditional acceptance, strict confidentiality, and a safe and inclusive space. We have therapists who are trained and specialized in helping individuals navigate the complex reality of what it means to identify as 2SLGBTQ+.

Our therapists can help explore major issues amongst 2SLGBTQ+ such as:

  • Anxiety, Depression, and Suicide.
  • Substance use (ie: Chemsex or Party and Play).
  • STI’s and HIV.
  • Coming out.
  • Stigma and Discrimination.
  • Internalized homophobia.
  • Conflicts with family and friends.
  • Conflicts between sexuality and cultural expectations.

Sex Positive Approach

In our practice, we integrate a sex positive approach that embraces openness, nonjudgmental attitudes, and freedom about sexuality and sexual expression. Our therapist can help provide insight as to how sexuality is important to a healthy human development and overall, one’s life. This approach is important because you can freely discuss, with zero judgement on topics such as:

  • Gender identity, gender expression, biological sex, and sexual orientation.
  • Practicing safe sex and consent.
  • Developing communication skills that ensure both you and your partner are satisfied.
  • Learning about your own bodies, how they work, and what provides sexual pleasure.
  • Openly discuss your sexual preferences and dislikes.

Sexuality is complex that you don’t have to go through alone and all our licensed therapists are well equipped to help you. When you are ready to schedule your first session, please complete our Intake Form and someone will contact you as soon as possible.
