Meena is a senior counselling professional with over 30 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and communities in both England and Canada. Her expertise spans a wide range of life stages, from young adults embarking on their journeys to individuals contemplating life priorities in later stages.

Meena’s services are covered by various extended health benefit plans, and she is a contracted service provider for government programs, including Nisga’a Valley Health, First Nations Health Authority, ICBC, and the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP). To determine if you qualify for counselling with a Registered Social Worker, reach out to your healthcare provider.

 

Fees:

Meena is accepting new clients!

$160 per session (50 min) for Individual Counselling
$180 per session (50 min) for Family/Couples Counselling

Appointment Schedule: 

Meena offers counselling sessions in person (except when mandatory social distancing protocols are in place), by telephone and by video through our Jane platform

Mondays (Remote Only): 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30 pm, 4:00pm, 5:00pm

Wednesdays: 9:15am, 10:15am, 11:15am, 1:00pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm

Fridays: 9:15am, 10:15am, 11:15am, 1:00pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm

Education & Experience

Meena earned her Master’s in Advanced Social Work from the University of Westminster (London, UK), where she was recognized with the Advanced Award in Social Work. She is a Registered Social Worker and holds membership with professional associations such as the BC College of Social Workers, the BC Association of Social Workers, and the Canadian Association of Social Workers.

Meena possesses specialized training and expertise in diverse areas such as abandonment, abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss, bereavement, life transitions, self-esteem, and conflict resolution. She maintains a particular interest in interpersonal relationships and attachment.

With a wealth of experience in working with various communities, including First Nations, visible minorities, diverse abilities, women, those with chronic health conditions, disabilities, and LGBTQ2SI individuals, Meena’s work history encompasses public agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and private clinical practice. She has also contributed to the field through counselling, university lecturing, social work consultancy, and research advocacy in British Columbia.

Counselling Approach & Philosophy

In her counselling practice, Meena adopts a gentle, compassionate, and inquisitive approach to engage with clients and understand their unique challenges and life events. She views individual experiences through the lenses of relationships with oneself, partners, families, peer groups, workplaces, communities, and wider society.

Starting with each person’s distinctive life narrative and worldview, Meena customizes the counselling approach to harness individual strengths and internal resilience. Her objective is to ensure that the counselling process is collaborative and its outcomes are empowering and enabling. Her practice guides clients towards their unique inner knowing and awareness.

Meena integrates a diverse range of theoretical and practice methodologies into her work, drawing from Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Existential, Narrative, Feminist, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Psychotherapy, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment theory, and Compassion and Trauma informed approaches.
